Miss Famine: Recipes that are Signs of the Apocalypse

We all know why peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, pizza and french fries are delicious.  You have to admit, just reading those words has set your inner child whispering sweet, irresponsible nothings in your ear about a trip to Jack-n'-the-Box.

So what does it mean when you start craving something green?  Something bitter?  Something leafy?  Something, in short, totally wrong, and yet completely delicious?

It means.... you too, have entered the apocalypse.

And you've discovered Euro Greens.  This charming combination of Swiss Chard, Mustard GreensTurnip Greens and Kale comes in a conveniently pre-washed package at your local grocery store and is an amazing alternative to the wild spinach you can usually find growing in local burned out cars.

Just wilt this brilliant combination in a little chicken broth  (or a little vegetable broth, for you connoisseurs of the green stuff) seasoned with garlic and red pepper flakes and you'll have a vegetable dish that's too delicious to deny and too simple to skip.  Even in the middle of an alien invasion, you'll find that it's not so hard to find five minutes to wilt some greens and get some life sustaining vitamin C.

But the really freaky part?  You'll totally like it.
